Party

Menu Definitions → Parties (`/definitions/parties`). Manage customers and suppliers, import from Excel, see Outstanding Collection / Payment / Balanced, and open Party Transaction Details for Payment, Collection, Add Payment/Collection, and Remittance.

Create

Create a Party

Add New Party opens a full form — party type, identity, GSTIN lookup, additional details, then Address, Additional Contact, and Bank tabs.

How to open Add Party

  1. 1Go to Parties
  2. 2Click Add New Party (or empty-state + Add New Party)
  3. 3Page title: Add Party — fill required fields and click Submit

Main identity fields

  • Party Type — Customer, Supplier, or Customer + Supplier (default: both)
  • Party name — placeholder Enter party name
  • State (required) — Select State
  • Phone
  • OR enter GSTIN — confirm update from GSTN Portal when lookup finds details
  • If multi-currency is enabled: Sales Currency and Purchase Currency
  • Preview card shows name, phone, address, state, and GST Registration Type

Core party identity is captured before you open Additional Details or the Address / Contact / Bank tabs.

Additional Details

  • Open with + Additional Details / Manage Additional Details
  • Pan
  • GST Registration Type
  • Entity Type — Sole Proprietorship, HUF, Partnership, MSME, Private Ltd, Ltd, Government, Non-Profit, etc.
  • Email Address — used for email notifications when you activate that
  • Opening Balance and As of Date
  • Add Category and Zip Code

Address

Add Address — Address Header, Address, Country, State, City, Pincode, Phone Number; type Billing Address or Shipping Address.

Additional Contact

Add Additional Contact — Name, Email, Phone Number for secondary people at the firm.

B

Bank

Add Bank — Account Number, Account Holder Name, Bank Name, IFSC Code (branch shown on cards).

Tip

State is required for GST place-of-supply logic. Prefer GSTIN lookup when the party is GST-registered so registration type and address start accurate.

Frequently asked

Can I add multiple addresses?+

Yes. Use + Address for each billing or shipping location. Empty state prompts you to click Add Address.

Is opening balance required?+

No. Set Opening Balance and As of Date in Additional Details when you are migrating an existing ledger balance.
